It is mainly used for sanitary items such as diapers for babies and adults and sanitary pads for women.The size of granular is approx. 0.30mm (300microns), Add water to it. This amazing granular immediately turns into a gel. Great use for science classes, holiday gifts, stocking stuffers, Goody Bag Stuffers. Sensory Bins: Add cups and molds and make sand castle-like creations with the slush (more water). Magic Tricks: Make water "disappear." Put the dried sodium polyacrylate at the bottom of an opaque cup, show it is "empty," pour water in, then flip the cup upside down. The polymer should absorb the water, expand, and stay inside the cup, making it look like the water disappeared.

How dose it work?
 

Water-absorbing chemical in a diaper is a super absorbent polymer called sodium polyacrylate.

A polymer is simply a long chain of repeating molecules.If the prefix "poly" means many,then a polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many smaller unts,called monomers,which are joined together. Some polymers are made up of milions of monomers. Super absor-bent polymers expand tremendously when they come in contact with water because water is drawn into and held by the molecules of the poly-mer. They act like giant sponges. Some can soak up as much as 500-1000 times their weight in water.
